PCDI Mission Statement

The mission of the Princeton Child Development Institute is to provide effective, science-based intervention for children and adults with autism and, through research and dissemination, to extend treatment resources to people with autism, both nationally and internationally.

Biographical Statements


Patrick R. Progar, Ph.D., BCBA-D is Executive Director of Princeton Child Development Institute. Previous to this, he was the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Applied Behavior Analysis at Caldwell College (now Caldwell University). Patrick received his BA degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and his MS and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Patrick has served as a faculty member at several colleges and universities and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in developmental disabilities and applied behavior analysis at Children’s Seashore House of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Research interests involve choice behavior, behavioral economics, self-management and a general interest in translation research.


Dr. Gregory S. MacDuff, Ph.D., BCBA-D – Executive Director of Adult and Community Living Programs received his doctoral degree from the University of Kansas. Dr. MacDuff played a key role in the development of a model of community-based, family-style residential treatment for children and youths with autism. His research and publications address such   topics as incidental teaching, prompting procedures, and the development of complex response chains. 

Amanda S. Freeman, M.A., BCBA – Director of Educational Programming earned her Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis at Caldwell University in 2011 and a currently pursuing a doctoral degree. She has nearly 10 years of experience in providing behavioral intervention to individuals with autism in home, community, and school settings, and has facilitated successful student transitions to general education settings. During the past 5 years her primary focus has been staff and parent training. She completed her thesis research on the effects of script fading on social interactions during discrete trial instruction. She has presented at conferences hosted by Autism New Jersey, the NJ Association for Behavior Analysis, the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts, and the Princeton Child Development Institute. Her research interests include the acquisition of language and social skills, and staff and parent training.


 Christine M. Fry, M.Ed., Principal/Director of Education Program received her master’s degree in educational leadership from the College of New Jersey.  She has over 20 years of experience in providing intervention to students with autism, providing training to families in the home and in the community, facilitating transitions to less restrictive environments, and training and supervising professional staff.


Lynn E. McClannahan, Ph.D., Executive Director Emerita, 1973, University of Kansas Ph.D. in developmental and child psychology. Current scientific interests include analysis and intervention in autism, design and evaluation of therapeutic environments, and development and assessment of accountability systems. Edward C., Fenske, M.A.T., Ed.S., Executive Director Emeritus. Ed’s extensive experience in delivering intervention to children with autism, support services to their families, and training and supervision to professional staff spans 30 years.
