The Early Intervention Program serves children who are under the age of 3 years old and were 27 months or younger at the time of referral. The center-based component of the program emphasizes language development and social skills.
Parents regularly visit the Institute, and PCDI personnel make weekly home visits. The home-based component includes teaching skills that support family routines and facilitating skill generalization. Eating, bathing, playing, and social interaction skills are taught in natural contexts, and parents’ participation increases the total number of hours of intervention (at least 30) delivered each week.
