Live-in ABA Residential Coordinator

Job Description

Step into a role with PCDI, an institution world-renowned for its contributions to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.   Since 1977, PCDI has provided compassionate support in neighborhood homes.

PCDI is seeking a couple to reside in a community based, custom-built home designed from the ground up to redefine community living for five adults with autism.  The home was engineered specifically to balance high-energy learning areas with serene, expansive living spaces. As the Live-In Coordinators, you will occupy a spacious, modern private area within the home. Because the house was designed for this specific purpose, your living quarters offer the perfect blend of privacy and accessibility providing an "excellent quality of life" for both the residents and the staff who lead them. The home is additionally supported by two, full-time direct support professionals, a trainer/consultant who ensures consistent implementation of programming, and awake overnight staff.

Responsibilities

The residential coordinators will:

  • Ensure the safety of group home residents
  • Establish comfortable and supportive relationships with residents and colleagues
  • Create and maintain a home-like living and learning environment that enhances the quality-of-life experience for residents
  • Exercise good judgment and remain calm when faced with a crisis
  • Teach and assist in the development of learners’ instruction and treatment goals with special emphasis on home and community-living skills, social skills, and language and communication skills
  • Drive residents to and from activities in a company-owned vehicle or your own vehicle, when necessary
  • Support residents with daily activities including leisure and recreational activities, medical appointments, and community outings
  • Effectively manage time and productivity
  • Communicate effectively with parents, siblings, neighbors, and colleagues
  • Collect, summarize, and analyze ongoing data regarding skill acquisition and behavior management programs for learners
  • Document all services provided in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Manage residents’ financial records
  • Oversee and train junior colleagues with the guidance of the trainer/consultant
  • Prepare monthly staff schedules
  • Manage general home maintenance tasks
  • Maintain and update administrative documentation as required by New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and the Office of Licensing
  • Participate in schedules and unannounced inspections conducted by DDD
Qualifications

Qualifications:

PCDI would prefer that one member of the couple serving as Live-In Residential ABA Coordinators:

  • Has, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, education, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience working with people with autism or other developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Both individuals must:

  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Pass extensive background checks
  • Complete and pass required trainings including but not limited to CPR, standard First Aid, medication administration, and professionalism
  • Work within designated evening, overnight, and weekend hours
  • Sample schedule: The residential coordinators will typically work five of the seven days of the week, within the typical hours of Monday – Friday 2-10pm, and 8am-4pm or 2pm-10pm on weekends

Work Environment:

Live-in position within a residential home setting. Physical duties include lifting up to 50 lbs. and transporting individuals.  Must be flexible, adaptable, and responsive to changing needs and schedules.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $58,000 per individual ($116,000 per couple) plus private on-site suite, groceries, and utilities (valued at $55,000 annually)

Residential Direct Support Professional (Group Home)

Job Description

PCDI seeks a direct support professional for our supported-employment program for adults with autism. Individuals will teach new skills using Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) principles and teaching strategies. This position is supported by a trainer/consultant who ensures consistent implementation of programming.

Training and Other Requirements: Must complete all trainings required by the Division of Developmental Disabilities; valid driver’s license with record in good standing is required.

Working Hours: Daytime hours (e.g., 8:00am - 4:00pm) with occasional availability for late afternoons and evenings on weekdays and some daytimes and evenings on weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time during the workday.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to participate in crisis management training and implement all strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to move quickly to ensure the safety of participants at all times.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge

Awake Overnight Direct Support Professional (Group Home)

Description: Since 1977, Princeton Child Development Institute (PCDI) has provided compassionate support in neighborhood homes. Our residential program is expanding and our team is too.

PCDI seeks an awake overnight direct support professional for a group home for fives adult with autism.  Extensive, on-going training by a supervisor will be provided.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the safety of residents
  • Support residents during overnight hours, as needed, using an ABA approach
  • Establish comfortable and supportive relationships with residents and colleagues
  • Exercise good judgment and remain calm when faced with a crisis
  • Support residents in morning routine, including getting ready for work
  • Effectively manage time and productivity
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, as well as parents, siblings, and neighbors, as needed
  • Collect, summarize, and analyze ongoing data regarding skill acquisition and behavior management programs for learners
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks
  • Document all services provided in accordance with state and federal regulations
