Education Program
The Education Program is a New Jersey Department of Education approved private school for children with disabilities. Students between the ages of 3 and 21 may be referred to PCDI by their local school districts to serve as an out-of-district placement.
This program includes 30 hours per week of highly individualized direct intervention. Parents receive hands-on training and are expected to supplement this instruction with an additional 10 hours per week of intervention in the home.
Autism impacts all areas a child’s life. Treatment must be broad to address this impact. Across a child’s time at PCDI it is common for programming to be in place to address areas such as self-help, home living, academics, interactions with friends/siblings, feeding, sleep, community visits, and participation in extracurricular activities.
Students who acquire prerequisite skills in key areas systematically transition with PCDI's support to less restrictive educational settings.
Individualized Education
The school day consists of highly individualized 1:1 instruction, zone supervision, and small group instruction.
Parent Training and Home Programming
A critical component of student success is an ongoing partnership between parents and clinical staff.
Transitions to Schools with Less Support
Nearly 50% of PCDI students transition to schools with less support.
Continued Alumni Consultation
Consultative services remain available for PCDI graduates, even years after graduation.
