Director of Development

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will be responsible for the strategic vision and direction of the donor relationships and stewardship program at PCDI. Leads a team of 2 full time employees focused on: conveying the Institute’s thanks in letters, videos, and other mediums; coordinating fundraising and school-wide events; executing a robust schedule of communications related to donor relationships; and enhancing donors’ relationships with the Institute.

The Director of Development will serve as a key leadership team member and an active participant in designing and implementing a comprehensive strategic plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and corporate philanthropic support. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build PCDI’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. It is expected that s/he will systematically and effectively strengthen PCDI’s overall fundraising capacity to secure funding for new initiatives through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support.

Stewardship and Donor Relations

Develops programming and strategies to guide the overall efforts of the donor relations and stewardship team, in accordance with industry best practice
Maintains and suggests updates to the criteria for special acknowledgements based on giving levels and volunteerism
Monitor and maintain all stewardship and donor database information and regularly provide and present statistical analysis to board and senior leaders.
Prepare annual reports with Executive Directors
Managing vendor relationships

Strategic Initiatives

Works with the management team to identify funds needed, preferred funding targets, and strategic approaches.
Leads strategic initiatives to increase engagement and philanthropic opportunities with PCDI’s philanthropic community and other high-level strategic initiatives as assigned
Communicate, train, and mentor development staff and communicate fundraising goals and progress throughout PCDI

Grants

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years’ related experience in stewardship, communications, or related field highly preferred
Working knowledge of financial budgets is required
Experience working with one of more donor databases preferred
Experience in capital campaign planning preferred
Clear, concise, and approachable communication skills
Excellent writing and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Must be highly motivated, self-directed, achievement-oriented, and show attention to detail
Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside PCDI
Possess a professional and resourceful style; to take initiative and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
Must have availability to work some nights and weekends
High energy and passion for PCDI’s mission is essential
